THE BENEFITS OF BUYING A DEMO CAR

When purchasing a car, most people seem to believe they have to choose between one of just two options — either new or used.

But once you reach the dealership, you’ll likely find other choices — like demo cars for sale. Demo cars are automobiles that have been used by a dealership for the sake of test drives or some other kind of demonstration, but not in the traditional sense (i.e., not regularly driven). At Group 1 Cars, they offer a wide range of demo cars available for purchase alongside the lineup of used vehicles.

So what benefits does one gain when purchasing a demo car? When compared to traditionally “used” models, a demo offers many upsides. Here are six of the often-overlooked benefits that characterise demo car purchases:

1) The car is sure to be in excellent condition

Don’t get the wrong impression: Even though a demo car isn’t “new,” it’ll definitely be in tip-top condition. And when you think about it for a moment, that’s obvious — the whole point of a demo car is to sell the given model to the patrons of the dealership, so of course, that specific car will need to represent the best of the fleet.

So while demo cars may be used occasionally for test drives or other demonstrative purposes, it’s safe to assume that any such vehicle you purchase will be, at most, very lightly driven. These cars are used to display the very best of the makes and models they represent, so you can trust that it will stay that way long after you drive it off the lot.

2) Demos will also likely be upper-spec models

For some of the same reasons listed below reason number one, you’ll quickly find that many demo cars feature high-level specifications. Sometimes, they even include features that are rarely seen in the standard version of their respective make and model.

Once again, this is because demo cars exist specifically to showcase all of the strongest qualities of a given vehicle. So when you purchase a demo car, it’s likely that the automobile is about as “tricked out” as that particular vehicle can be. If you’re interested in seeing the full extent of a car’s capabilities, you can’t go wrong driving off in a demo.

3) You’ll get a full rundown on the car’s usage

Of course, there are many subcategories of demo cars out on the market. Some are “dealer demos,” made specifically for the sake of test drives (and other, similar purposes) at local dealerships. Others might be “courtesy cars,” assigned to some customers while their own vehicles are under repair or recall. And some others are “factory demos,” which in some cases have even been made to be shown off on stage!

But no matter what the demo you’re considering was used for, that information will be available up front while you’re considering your purchase. Obviously, some used car dealerships are not so forthcoming with the background of the vehicles they’re selling. But because a demo was made specifically for official purposes, you’ll always be able to count on receiving a full, thorough history of the car — and more importantly, its condition — at the time of purchase.

4) Same warranty as any other vehicle

Demo cars are sold with the same manufacturer’s warranty associated with new models. So even though the car is not officially “new,” you’ll be able to drive it with full confidence that any unforeseen deficiencies or defects will be handled as if you had put the very first mile on the odometer.

5) Available on the spot

Another major benefit of choosing to purchase a demo car is that while it carries most of the benefits that come with a new vehicle, you can drive it off the dealership on the day you decide to make your purchase. With a demo car, there’s no shipment to wait for, and no pesky supply concerns that might get in your way — you’ll be able to choose your vehicle and then park it in front of your own home that very same night.

6) And — of course — lower cost

Here’s another point that probably goes without saying — but it’s one worth repeating time and again. When you choose to purchase a demo car instead of a new vehicle, you’ll end up with a very significant overall discount. Just like when you choose to buy used, demo cars allow you to achieve real savings when compared to their new counterparts. And as all the other points above hopefully illustrate, there’s not much — if anything at all — that you’re trading away in exchange for such a deal.
