Here’s what you get in the 2019 Ford Ranger…

1. A different engine in selected models

The 2019 Ford Ranger for sale has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder bi-turbo diesel engine.

Output figures are impressive: 157 kW with an impressive 500 Nm of torque, and Ford promised that it’s more efficient too. Yep, you may want to opt-in for this kind of performance on a used Ranger but bear in mind that this engine is probably only available on the high-spec used Ranger models, such as the XLT and Wildtrak.

2. A 10-speed gearbox

The 2019’s addition of a 10-speed torque converter auto-gearbox sounds a little excessive on a bakkie, it’s a great fit for fuel economy.

3. More safety features

New tech and safety equipment also debuted in the 2019 Ranger. Upmarket safety features such as having Pre-Collision Assist with Inter-Urban Autonomous Emergency Braking (which include vehicle and pedestrian detection) might just be on in selected pre-owned models, as well as Active Park Assist to help you ace that pesky parallel parking every time.

4. A more stylish, cushy interior, packed with tech

Australian motoring media were highly impressed with the plush, modern interior, and the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone integration. And that is not all…

5. Improved steering and suspension

Suspension changes were made across the entire range of 2019 Rangers, which helped to improve the overall ride quality and lessened body roll, as well as improved the drive and handling when towing that trailer or boat. Word on the street is that the revised steering feels lighter at low speeds compared to previous models, which helps to make parking a cinch.
